All About Moving Boxes When Moving Home

Moving boxes can seem a little confusing for those starting off in the moving process. Moving boxes are generally the same weight and quality as ordinary shipping boxes unless they are made from thicker cardboard that allows for heavier packing like ours. So, the question most people has is, should I purchase moving boxes?

The answer is usually found in a combination of need and cost. For expensive, fragile or sentimental items that you don’t want damaged, it’s always best to err on the side of caution and purchase new moving boxes.

Buy small moving boxes

Each box should not weigh more than 20kg max. Make sure you’re able to lift them yourself.

Type of Boxes

1.5 cubic foot moving box – the box most used the most and can safely carry up to 60lbs.

4.0 cubic foot moving box – can safely carry up to 65lbs. Great for larger lamps, linens and larger kitchen appliances.

6.0 cubic foot moving box – can safely carry up to 70lbs. Be careful not to overpack this box as it can become very heavy. Use it for pillows, toys, large blankets and couch/chair cushions.

Hanging Wardrobe Boxes

It has a metal bar and is shaped just like a wardrobe. They are great for hanging closet items that you cannot pack flat. Remember that they are heavy and take up a lot of room.
